A heat advisory is in effect for Union, Stanly, Anson, Richmond and Chesterfield Co from 11am until 8pm. I would not be surprised if more counties are added later this morning. Storm chances will increase this afternoon with heavy downpours possible, we will need to watch for localized flooding. An upper level disturbance to our north is allowing more instability and moisture to build, leading to increased storm chances today and tomorrow. By Wednesday, a cold front will approach the area from the west, bringing some relief from the intense heat. This front will likely stall leading to a more unsettled pattern with more clouds, showers and storms. WCNCIndian Trail man facing charges after high-speed, multi-county police chase ends in crashCHARLOTTE, N.C. — An Indian Trail man is facing charges after he was caught with stolen police gear during a multi-county chase, Monroe Police said. The incident started when Union County deputies attempted to pull over Roger Burns III for a fake license plate. However, deputies allege that Burns intentionally hit a patrol car and sped off. Burns then allegedly drove onto I-485 at a high rate of speed. A deputy performed a "forced vehicle stop" and the chase ended in Mecklenburg County. The car he was driving was reported stolen in York County, investigators said.
